VCCCI Vintage Car and Motorcycle fiesta on February 4

Mumbai, Jan 30 (UNI) The Vintage&Classic Car Club of India (VCCCI) will organise the annual VCCCI Vintage Car and Motorcycle Fiesta in Mumbai on February 4.

The rally begins and concludes at Kala Ghoda Museum in south Mumbai. While the actual route will remain undisclosed till one minute before the flag off as the enthusiasts can see the cars as they wind their way from Kala Ghoda to Juhu and back.

The event is organised by the Vintage and Classic Car Club of India, India's official body for vintage motor vehicles and is affiliated to the World by FIVA in association with the Western India Automobile Association&Traffic Police, Mumbai.

Addressing the media today at the WIAA Hall at the Indian Merchants Chamber, Nitin Dossa, Chairman, VCCCI said,''The rally showcases some of the country's most important cars which will be lined up at the Flora Fountain car park on February 3 for inspection and will be flagged off from Kala Ghoda car park on Feb 4. The fiesta is open to cars and motorcycles manufactured between 1940 and 1980 along with some rare cars till 2007 which fall into the Modern Classics category.'' This years rally will include more than five Rolls Royces and some exceptional cars that have not been seen in any Indian rally till date. There will be five cars each from press baron Vivek Goenka and Dr Vijay Mallya's stables. In addition Mumbai Samachar proprietor Hormusji Cama will also participate.

Nitin Dossa adds,''For the first time, Cricket Club of India President Raj Singh Dungarpur will take part in a 1938 Chevrolet from the Dungarpur collection. Other attractions include Yohan Poonawala's Rolls Royce Phantom 3 a convertible marquee formerly owned by the Maharaja of Kota, two Rolls Royces from Ramesh Thakkar's collection and Zaheer Vakil's impeccibly preserved Buicks, Jaguar and Rovers.'' Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy will be the first to be flagged off in a Crysler Convertible 1952-8 cylinder owned by Mr Nitin Dossa. This year's rally will travel 60km because VCCCI have taken into account the demands of suburbanites to watch the rally.

After the unparalled success of the Rally of the Raj 2000, India's first international vintage car rally, VCCCI is again bidding for an international rally next year, Pune being one of the points in the route.
