Vaughan tryst with injury continues

London, May 4 (UNI) England captain Michael Vaughan damaged one of his fingers after getting hit by a rising ball from Australian seamer Stuart Clarke while batting for his county side Yorkshire against Hampshire.

Vaughan was later taken to a hospital for an X-ray.

''It is the middle finger on his right hand, but we won't know any more about what has happened until much later'' Yorkshire physio Scott McAllister told the 'BBC Sport'.

The 32-year-old English skipper, who is looking for runs after a miserable World Cup, had earlier made 72 in the first innings before being run out.

Vaughan is also battling hard to keep his captaincy as questions were raised about his future after he had a rough time with bat in cricket's showpiece event.

But resting all speculation new England coach Peter Moores had confirmed that Vaughan would be captaining the side in the first Test against West Indies at Lord's on 17 May.
