Vaibhav Suri, Arunima Kalra clinches State Open Under-13
New Delhi, June 5 (UNI) Top seed Vaibhav Suri, helped by better scores, finished the winner in the finals of the State Open Under-13 Chess Championship today.
Suri defeated Ram Gupta handsomely to clinch the title while in another thrilling encounter, Prince Bajaj of DPS Ghaziabad finished second by defeating Rishi Thariani, who came in third.
The trio will represent Delhi State in the Under-13 Open Chess Championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi at the end of the year.
In the Girls category, Arunima Kalra was lucky to finish first by defeating Upasana Mahajan through a toss of the coin after both were stranded on a tie. Mahajan had to be contended with the runners-up trophy.
In the final round games, Arunima defeated Himani Sharma and Upasana overcame Kesshni Basiin. Mathuravani finished third.
