Uttarakhand CM praises Bhandari for qualifying for Olympics

Dehra Dun, Jul 16 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri today congratulated Army jawan Surendra Singh Bhandari for being the first athlete from the state to qualify for the Beijing Olympics.

Extending his wishes, the Chief Minister said Bhandari had accomplished a creditable feat by representing India at the Games.

''Mr Bhandari has made the people of Uttarakhand and the country proud by qualifying in the Olympic Games and we wish him success,'' he said.

Bhandari, who hails from Gairsen town of Chamoli district, has also participated in several international sporting events.
