India's shame extended,2 more female athletes fail dope test

New Delhi, Jul 4: Extending the shame of the Indian athletes, two more runners on Monday, Jul 4 failed the dope test. Ashwini Akkunji and Priyanka Pawar, who were the part of CWG 2010 and Asian Games, failed in the dope test.

The dope test for anabolic steroid came as positive for the both athletes. Both of their names have been removed from the upcoming series. Ashwini was the gold medalist in Asian Games, while Priyanka was the reserve runner.

The results of the sample taken by NADA from Jun 11 to Jun 14 during the National Inter-State Athletics Meet, Bangalore indicated that Jauna Murmu, Sini Jose, Sonia and Hari Krishnan were tested positive for taking methandienone, a banned medicine, while Tiana Mary Thomas was tested positive for an energy storing steroid, epimethandiol in urine, said media reports.

Mandip Kaur, who was tested positive for a drug test conducted by IAAF claimed innocence denying allegations against her that she took steroids.
