Two-day ski cup starts on the slopes of world famous Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Feb 24 (UNI) The two-day Gulmarg ski cup, jointly organised by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department and Winter Games Federation of India (WGFI) started here this afternoon.

A large number of skiers from different parts of the state and outside are taking part in the tournament.

A spokesman of the Tourism department said the skiers will compete in different events including Men (Alpine), Slalom and Giant slalom at Kongdori and Men (Nordic), 10 km and 15 km at golf course, Gulmarg.

The cup was technically supported by Winter Games Association of Jammu and Kashmir in association with the Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation and Gulmarg Development Authority.

The Gulmarg slopes are under about three to four feet of white carpet following fresh snowfall recently. However, it was more than five feet at Kongdori and Affarwat, last down hill ski point.
