TTAB to build indoor stadium for TT in M S University campus
Vadodara, Aug 27 (UNI) Table Tennis Association of Baroda (TTAB) and the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) today announced a joint venture to build a modern indoor stadium for table tennis in the university campus here.
Talking to newspersons, university pro-vice chancellor Prof S M Joshi said MSU syndicate had approved a TTAB proposal to provide the land adjacent to the university pavilion, while TTAB had agreed to arrange funds for Rs 1 crore project.
TTAB secretary Kalpesh Thakkar said the foundation stone for the proposed indoor stadium of International standard would be laid on the day of Dusshera and the project was expected to be completed within a year.
The stadium will have at least 16 tables with all modern amenities and facilities for the players as well as the spectators, Thakkar said, adding that the stadium would not only be used for promotion of table tennis in the state of Gujarat, but also for other indoor games like badminton and basket ball.
Local MP Jayaben Thakkar, who is an advisor to the committee for infrastructure and promotion of sports of the M S University, announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the stadium project from her MPLAD fund.
