TSC to give facelift to sports infrastructure
Agartala, Mar 31 (UNI) Tripura Sports Minister Keshab Majumder today said initiatives will be taken to develop sports infrastructure of the state.
In the general body meeting of Tripura Sports Council (TSC) here, Mr Majumder said an estimated budget of Rs 71 lakh 27 thousand was needed for this fiscal which is much higher than the previous year.
Stressing on the importance on the coaching facilities, he said the government had decided to open 20 more new coaching centres in various parts of the state.
Gymnasium centres would also be opened at Dhalai, South and North districts for which Rs two lakh have been earmarked for each centre, he added.
The various sports team, participating in national level games, would be selected from block to state level competitions as there were huge number of talented youth in villages.
Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had also expressed his unhappiness over the state's dismal performance in recently held Asian Games at Guwahati and in the North East Sports festival in Gangtok.
