T'puram wins men, women titles

Thalassery, Nov 18 (UNI) Thiruvananthapuram clinched both men and women's titles in the 52nd Senior state Basketball Championship here today.

While in the men's section reigning champions Thiruvananthapuram beat Pathanamthitta by 94-73, in the women's section they pipped Thrissur 89-73.

While for men Manoj R and Abhilash scored 34 and 18 points each Litty Mathew and Anjana scored 23 and 21 points each for women.

This was the first championship in the state basketball with three umpires, as par the new rule introduced in the international matches.

Manoj R and Anjana S S, both from Thiruvananthapuram were selected as best players in the men and women section respectively.
