Top seeds PSPBA, WB win third round in cadet event

Vijayawada, Nov 26 (UNI) Top seeds Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Academy (PSPBA) in Group 'A' and West Bengal in Group 'B' won their respective third round matches in the cadet boys team event in the 70th sub-junior National Table Tennis Championship being held here today.

PSPBA's Lalrin Puja defeated Rushal Rawat 11-5,11-8, 11-9, Lalhunnula trounced Bibek Das 11-5, 11-3, 11-6 in the singles.

The winners also won the doubles by beating the lossers in straight sets 11-2, 11-6, 11-3.

In the other match, last year's runner-up West Bengal beat Chattisgarh 3-0, S Bhattarcharjee outplayed R Rain 11-4, 11-2, 11-3 while S Sah beat P Jain 11-3, 11-6, 11-4 in the singles and in doubles A Sarkar and A Ghosh gave a memorable victory to its team by defeating S Seth and P Jain 11-7, 11-6, 11-1.

In the cadet girls team event, Punjab beat Jammu and Kashmir 3-0 in Group 'A', Nehar Partial defeated B Bhart 11-2, 11-2, 11-2 while Saima outwitted Apporva Gupta 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 in the singles and in doubles Neha Parital and Neha Patial beat Apoorva Gupta and V Bhat 11-2, 11-1, 11-6.
