Top seed Chakvetadze beats Morigami in Cincinnati final
CHICAGO, July 23 (Reuters) Top seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia won her third WTA Tour title of the year as she breezed past Akiko Morigami of Japan 6-1 6-3 in the Cincinnati Open final.
The 20-year-old Chakvetadze claimed the first set in 26 minutes, then overcame a 0-2 start to win the second.
''I didn't expect it to be so easy,'' Chakvetadze told reporters. ''I think she was tired, because she played a tough match (on Saturday).
''I was trying to play every point very concentrated, because the last few days have been really up and down,'' added Chakvetadze, who was extended to three sets in her quarter-final and semi-final matches.
The victory gave Chakvetadze a 5-0 record in WTA Tour finals and ended a three-match losing streak to the seventh-seeded Morigami.
''I just wasn't executing my shots and did not know what I wanted to do out there,'' Morigami told reporters yesterday. ''I just feel like I missed so many balls.'' Reuters SAM VP0955
