Top amateurs for Western India amateur golf championship
Mumbai, Jan 15 (UNI) Doha Asian Games silver medallists Anirban Lahiri and Joseph Chakola will be the top contenders in the Royal Challenge Western India Amateur Golf championship which tees off at the Par-72 Bombay Presidency Golf Course on January 16.
This event forms the 10th leg on the Royal Challenge National Amateur circuit.
Apart from Lahiri and Chakola, the other golfers taking part in the tourney include Smarjeet Singh, Jaskeerat Dullet, Jasjeet Singh and Manav Das among others.
Among the notable absentees are Chirag Kumar and Himmat Rai.
Chirag scripted a memorable win in the amateur category at the 2006 Indian Open and has been in splendid form this season.
