Tony Monteiro does it again

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) Tony Monteiro, a septuagenarian, created another sensation for the third successive day when he fashioned his second win, in the Rexello Castors-Islam Gymkhana Open Handicap&Invitation Snooker Tournament 2007 at the Islam Gymkhana today.

Monteiro, who earlier extended upcoming junior Shravan Mohta and upset the formidable Rishabh Pandya, overcame Haji Usman 3-0 in the best-of-five frames Group 'A' contest, that included a significant break of 45 in the opening frame.

Though Monteiro coasted through the opener, he endured dogged resistance from Usman in the next two frames before sealing his win.

It was Usman's third consecutive loss in the group.

In another Group 'A' tie, Rovin D'Souza overcame Rishabh Pandya 109-23, 71-26, 38-81, 75-33 for his second win in the group, after getting off to a good start with a break of 68 in the opening frame.

Marzdi Kalyaniwala and Omar Balsara fashioned their second consecutive wins from Group 'C' and 'D', respectively.

Both came through in contrasting style, as Kalyaniwala sent Kaizad Fitter crashing to his second defeat following a pulsating 17-65, 59-14, 39-77, 77-20, 61-52 win that included a significant break of 63 in the fourth frame.

Balsara beat Siddharth Parikh 53-7, 61-47, 81-41 with a break of 47 in the third frame.
