TN to meet Manipur in final on Jan 20

Puducherry, Jan 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu set the stage for a title clash with defending champions Manipur in the 5th Junior National Girls Football Tournament here.

In a semi-final match today, Tamil Nadu outplayed Jharkand 4-0.

Tamil Nadu excelled in all departments of the game and meant business right from the start and striker Usha Rani found the net at the eighth minute to open the account. With Chiran Ciyal (26th minute) and P Poovizhi (31st minute) scoring goals, Tamil Nadu led 3-0 at the breather.

Rani Prasanna completed the tally for Tamil Nadu at the 51st minute.

Earlier, in another semi-final, defending champions Manipur prevailed over Orissa by a solitary second half goal.

In an evenly contested encounter Parmeswari Devi found the net at the 59th minute which sealed the fate of Orissa.

After a rest day tomorrow, the finals would be played here on January 20.
