TN NCC Directorate wins overall championship trophy

Tiruchirapalli, Oct 15 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate, comprising Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar, won the overall championship trophy at the Thal Sainik Camp (girls) held at New Delhi recently.

In a release here today, Commanding Officer, 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchirapalli, Lt Col Sanjay Anand said girl cadets of 17 directorates across the country took part in the all-India camp held from September 22 to October three.

The camp featured competitions in firing, obstacle course, map reading, tent pitching, line area and health and hygiene, he said adding that of the 40 cadets from Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate, who participated in the camp, 13 cadets were from 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchirapalli.

The team also bagged gold medals in map reading, silver medals in obstacle course and line area competitions, he said.

Cadet L Parameswari of 9 TN Battalion NCC, Karaikudi, bagged the third prize in obstacle course clocking a timing of 35 seconds, he said.
