Sylendra elected as the manager of Indian team

Karur, Tamil Nadu, Aug 24: Inspector General of Police and the Chief Security Officer of the state-owned Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper Ltd (TNPL) at Kagithepuram C Sylendra Babu, will be the manager of the Indian Athletic Team for the World Athletic Championship to be held at Osaka in Japan from August 25 to September 2.

Mr Babu, who is also the vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association, said ''it is great honour for me. I expect good performance as we have got some good athletes. I am confident they will bring laurels.'' Athletes from 190 countries, including a 12-member contingent from India, will take part in the championship.
