TN boy, girl adjudged individual champions

Kochi, Jan 17 (UNI) Rajesh Pran Mathyan and C Christy, both from Tamil Nadu, were adjudged the individual champions in the men's and women's sections, respectively in the 40th Central Revenue South Zone Sports Meet 2007-08, which concluded here today.

Defending champions Tamil Nadu retained their overall championship title with 293 points followed by Kerala with 70 points, Karnataka 66 points and Andhra Pradesh 48 points.

In the cricket final, Karnataka outclassed Andhra Pradesh by eight wickets in a 40-over match.

Kerala stamped their authority in football with a 2-1 win over Tamil Nadu in the final.

In the hockey final, Karnataka beat Tamil Nadu 1-0.

In track and field, Tamil Nadu athletes showed their supremacy over the rest by winning most of the events.

The winners would qualify for the All India Meet to be held at Kolkatta from January 28 to 30.
