TN beats Hyderabad, claim five points

Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) Tamil Nadu held their nerves to post a two wicket win over Hdyerabad and claim five points on the final day of the South Zone Under-22 cricket tournament for the P Ramachandra Rao trophy here today.

Resuming at 112 for eight, still requiring 18 to win, the overnight batsmen R Ashwin and L Vignesh held their nerves and knocked off the runs in 5.5 overs to ensure full points for the home team.

Both of them remained unbeaten on 22.

However, the other matches between Andhra Pradesh and Kerala and Karnataka and Goa ended in a draw as the final day's play was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.

Brief Scores: Hyderabad 178 and 129 lost to Tamil Nadu 178, 130 for eight in 61.5 overs. Pts: TN-5, Hyd-0.

Karnataka: 300 for eight decl and 78 for no loss drew with Goa 151. Pts: Kar-3, Goa-1.

Kerala 256 drew with Andhra 43 for one. Pts: Kerala-1, Andhra-1.
