Three way tie for lead at Royal Challenge Amateur
Pune, Jan 23 (UNI) Gagan Verma, Jasjeet Singh and Anirban Lahiri turned in four-under 67 cards to emerge joint leaders at the end of the opening day of the the Royal Challenge Poona Amateur Golf Championship here today.
First in at the starters hut was Verma. With eight birdies to his name -- the best among the day's leaders -- Verma had four bogeys, which incidentally was the most amongs't his fellow leaders.
On the other hand, Jasjeet and Anirban were much steadier. In near flawless cards, which included five birdies and 12 pars -- both coincidentally dropped a shot on par-3 2nd. For Lahiri it was his short game that helped.
The day also saw five sub-par rounds apart from the Top-3 scores.
S Bahuguna with a three-under 68, trailed the leaders by one, while Simarjeet Singh, Raj Randhawam Vikram Rana and H S Kang turned in one-under 70 scores.
