Three players from Jhakrhand in Indian team
Jamshedpur, Aug 31 (UNI) Three players from Jharkhand have been selected for Special Olympics World Summer Games, slated to be held in Shanghai, China from October 2 to 12.
President Speical Olympics Jharkhand (SOJ) Satish Pillai told mediapersons that footballer Amarjeet Singh, having multiple disabilities, has been selected in the Indian team, while two handball players Rajesh Kumar and Harpal Singh also got opportunity to represent India.
Mr Pillai said the 140-member strong Indian squad would leave on September 28 and ahead of that a six-day training camp would be held in Delhi.
He said more than 7,000 participants from 170 countries would take part in the World meet. India would take part in 13 disciplines, he added.
Mr pillai said Gautam Banerjee was appointed coach for Athletics by the Special Olympics India, while assistant secretary of SOJ Avtar Singh was selected Tehcnical official by the Games Organising Committee, Washington.
