Three new Meet records created: Aishwarya scores double

Bangalore, June 1 (UNI) Three new meet records were created, even as G S Aishwarya scored a double on the opening day of the Unitech Fourth National Youth Athletics Championship held in Kanteerava Stadium here today.

Virender Kumar of Haryana created new record by hurling the Javelin to a new distance of 65 Metres to erase the previous mark of 63.46 m created by his statemate Sandeep last year at Warangal.

International Athlete M R Poovamma of host Karnataka, rewrote the three-year-old record in 400 m, clocking 54.7 seconds, improving upon the previous timing of 56.59 seconds by Sabina Khatun of West Bengal, while Manpreet Kaur of Punjab threw the iron ball to a distance of 14.35 m to erase the last year record of 12.42 meters by Steffi Cardozo of Goa.

Ace Athlete Aishwarya proved her skill both in Long Jump and High Jump to win two golds. After leaping 5.47 ms to bag gold in Long Jump, she cleared 1.58 m to win gold in High Jump.
