Third pathology report to confirm Woolmer's natural death
Jamaica, June 4 (UNI) After months of investigations and speculations, the Jamaican police is now awaiting the third pathology report next week to confirm that late coach Bob Woolmer died a natural death.
According to a report in the 'Jamaica Gleaner', on condition of annonymity a senior investigating officer has confirmed that the former Pakistani coach died a natural death and was not murdered.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) investigators are waiting to receive the third pathology report next week, which is expected to concur with the second report conducted by British government pathologist Dr Nat Carey.
''Certainly, in my view it was not murder,'' said the senior officer.
However, the JCF will not make an official comment until before the final toxicology results and the third pathology report are in their hands.
Dr Carey, who was called in by the Jamaican investigators to review the findings of local pathologist Dr Ere Sheshiah's report, had ruled out the asphyxiation theory and said Woolmer died a natural death.
However, Dr Garfield Blake, president of the Jamaican Association of Clinical Pathologists, who had earlier criticised the findings of Dr Sheshiah, yesterday backed his colleague stating that the Indian born pathologist deserved to be judged only when all the facts are presented in public.
''The best of persons in any field can make an error, but on the other hand, if there is a pattern of wrong conclusions being drawn or sloppy post-mortems, then this would fit into that,'' Dr Blake said.
He added that ideally there should be a system in place where all pathology reports, no matter how clear-cut, should be reviewed by a colleague to ensure accurate findings.
