The victory has boosted our morale : Graeme Smith

St.George's, (Grenada), Apr 11 (UNI) An elated Graeme Smith said he liked the ''passion and freedom'' his boys showed under pressure in their 67 run win over West Indies in the Super Eight league of the Cricket World Cup here.

''It was do or die situation for us and we had no option but to win and I am happy that we won,'' South Africa skipper Graeme Smith said after the win.

''We needed two points to keep us going. They were very crucial after our defeat against Bangladesh. The two points are crucial but I liked the way we played, with lots of energy, passion and freedom,'' he said.

Talking to media persons, Smith said ''It's been a tough few days for us building up to the game having played so badly in Guyana but all credit to the boys.

''We managed to play our natural game under pressure and I guess that's what it's all about, so we're happy.'' He was delighted that his team posted such a commanding score, 356-4, thanks to AB de Villiers and Jacques Kallis.

''It went around a bit in the first 10 overs and the way we counteracted that and finished off at the death to get 356 was a superb.'' ''We had the game under our control through out. And I knew that game is ours when we had half of their (West Indies) side back by the 20th over, and it was about finishing it off at the end,'' Smith said.

He did not agree with a question that his side was still searching for the right combinations in their line-up.

''We had one or two options against the West Indies we thought might work for us,'' the skipper said.
