Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh emerge team champions
Jamshedpur, Feb 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh emerged team champions in the men's and women's categories respectively in the Federation Cup Power Lifting Championship at the JRD Tata sports complex here today.
Rajendra Patil of Madhya Pradesh and Sarita Verma of Haryana were adjudged strongest man and strongest woman respectively.
In the men's team event, Tamil Nadu earned 50 points to top the table while Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra bagged 40 and 32 points to get second and third spot respectively.
Andhra women's team garnered 45 points to lead table followed by Maharashtra (40 points) and Punjab (36 points).
In the individual senior men's and women's categories the winners were selected for Asian Power Lifting Championship-2007.
In the senior men's section following lifters were the winners in various weight categores: Rajesh Sukraware (M.P) in 52 kg,Dilip Sharma (M.P)in 56 kg, K Malila Mani (Pondichery) in 67.5 kg, H.Ddadapeer (Karnataka)in 82.5 kg,Sanjay Sardesai(Maharashtra) in 110 kg,Harjeet Kumar(Punjab)in 125 kg and Pradip Malik (Delhi)in 125 plus kg.
In the senior women's section following lifgers were the winners in different weight categories: Sarita (Haryana)in 44 kg,V.S.N.L Renuka (Andhra Pradesh) in 48 kg, Ranu Mohanty (Orissa) in 67.5 kg, Rupali Das (West Bengal) in 75 kg,Deepali Kulkarni (Maharashtra) in 82.5 kg and Sampa Guha (West Bengal)in 90 kg.
