Sukhvir wins Leicestershire county contract
Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) Despite the Indian teams' erratic showing in the World Cup, Miditech rekindled the cricketing fervor in India with the Cricket Star Grand Finale which was won by a young boy from Punjab, Sukhvir Singh.
His prize was a year's all-expenses-paid contract with the prestigious Leicestershire County Cricket Club in England, in addition to prizes like an all expense paid trip to Dubai sponsored by Signature Crest (India's leading chain of serviced apartments) and a return ticket to London sponsored by Air India.
The runner up of the competition was Mohammed Abbas and Dinesh Salunkhe was chosen as the man of the series, on the final show of this reality programme aired on Zee Sports and DD last night.
In addition, this show also played an important role in popularizing the emerging Twenty20 format which is expected to dominate the game of cricket in the years to come.
The final episode was a product of a tough ten-weeks of training, which saw the finalists being chiseled into finer players at the Cricket Star Academy under the expert guidance of former cricketers Robin Singh, Praveen Amre and Abey Kuruvilla.
Famous faces like Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Singh, Kapil Dev and Ajay Jadeja attended the Grand Finale.
