Suchde scores fluent win to enter third round of SPA Classic squash

Mumbai, Aug 9 (UNI) Top seed Siddharth Suchde opened his campaign with a fluent 3-0 win over Anshuman Chaudhary of Services, in the 1st Patel Retail-SPA Classic Squash Championship, at the Otters Club, Bandra here today.

India No. 2 Suchde, who earned a first round bye, warmed up for sterner tests ahead with an 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 win to advance to the Men's Open pre-quarter-finals where he will take on formidable Naishad Lalwani.

Mumbai lad Lalwani registered an equally comfortable 11-0, 11-4, 11-2 win over Virendra Pawar in another second round match.

The duo set the trend for easy second round wins, as outstation players in particular enjoyed a rewarding day.

Fourth seed Naresh Kumar, No. 5 Parth Sharma, sixth seed and dark horse Parthiban Aiyappan, all of Chennai, and Amjad Khan of Delhi scored convincing wins en route to the last 16.

Among the Professionals, second seed Sanjay Pawar was taken the distance before getting past Ajay Pawar 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 9-11, 11-3 in a pulsating pre-quarter-final.

In another close pre-quarter-final in the same category, No. 7 Santosh More was stretched by unseeded Gopi Mohite before rallying to a 9-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-5 win.

In contrast, top seed B. Balamurugan of Chennai led the rest of the seeds into the quarter-finals without much ado.
