Strauss says Trott's 'pre-shot crease-work' not against 'spirit of game'

London, June 4(ANI): England captain Andrew Strauss has defended Lord's double centurion Jonathan Trott's 'pre-shot routine at the crease', which Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons described as being against the spirit of the game.

"Everyone has their pre-shot routines, like golfers; designed to get them in the right frame of mind to face any one ball," The Telegraph quoted Strauss, as saying.

"One of Trotty's great strengths is his concentration and maybe it helps him get into the right mindset to concentrate for long periods," he added.

Earlier, Siddons was angry that Trott had not been taken to task and was making the Bangladeshi bowlers wait during the first Test.

"It is annoying everyone in the team. He should be ready when the bowlers are ready. It is not in the spirit of the game. The match referees and umpires need to look at it. Take that away from his game and everybody would be happy," Siddons had said.

"Our bowlers have tried to run in while he is preparing, but the umpire just puts his arm out. Making a mark that leaves a hole a foot deep is a bit too much," he added. (ANI)
