State level sports meet for labourers of Haryana

Chandigarh, Apr 13 (UNI) In a bid towards the empowerment of women emplotyed in the industrial sector, the Haryana Government has decided to rename the Haryana Shram Mahila Puraskar as Haryana Shram Virangana Puraskar, besides announcing that a state level sports meet for labourers would be held at Faridabad.

This was announced ,here today, in a meeting chaired by Haryana Labour and Employment Minister Birender Singh, who is also the Chairman of various Labour Welfare Boards of the state.

He said that a two-day state level sports meet for labourers would also be organised at Faridabad which would conlude on May Day that is on May 1. He said that the state government was committed to raise the socio-economic condition of the workers.

While outlining the details of the awards to be given to the winners of the sports meet on May day, the Minister said that the first prize namely Mukhyamantri Shram Ratan Puraskar would be of Rs one lakh, second prize (two in number) under the title of Haryana Shram Bhushan Puraskar would ne of Rs 50,000 each, 20 third prizes under the name of Haryana Shram Veer Puraskar would be of Rs 20,000 each and 20 fourth prizes under the title Haryana Shram Mahila Puraskar would be of Rs 20000 each.

He said that firstly the games in various disciplines like kabaddi, volleyball, football, cricket, kho-kho, basket etc would be held at the circle level from where the Deputy Labour Commissioners of respective circles would recommend the successful teams in different events for the state level sports meet.
