State Junior Chess Tourney from May 1 in Nashik

Nashik, Mar 5 (UNI) The Eklavya Chess Academy, Nashik will organise Maharashtra State Sub-Junior and Junior Chess tournament from May 1 to 4.

The event is being organised under the auspices of Maharashtra State Chess Association, Central Maharashtra Chess Association and Nashik District Chess Association, Eklavya Chess Academy President Anand Yashwant, said in a press conference here today.

The event will be conducted in four categories -- Under-9, Under-12, Under-15 and Under-19. The first ten winners in each category will be given attractive cash prizes. The total prize money of the tournament is Rs 80,000.

As many as 400 participants from across the state, including internationally rated players, international masters and renowned players, will participate in the event, the organisers said.

The event will be conducted as per the latest World Chess Federation rules and the Swiss League System will be used for pairing the players.
