St Anne's suffer defeat

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) St Anne's (Malad) suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Army Services Public School (ASPS) Bangalore in the Playwin Junior Football Championship National Finals presented by Hansaplast at BPT Grounds, Reay Road here today.

St Anne's, who are the winners of the Mumbai leg went head-to-head with the winners from ASPS, Bangalore.

Putting up a tough fight, St Anne's battled right through. They exerted pressure on the team from Bangalore and had some success.

Lyndon Rodrigues and Cletus Paul hit the back of the net.

Their efforts, however, were not enough as ASPS stayed ahead of the home team. Karunakaran and Diman Nandi leveled the score for ASPS. Sunil Kumar scored twice for ASPS in the last few minutes to take his side to victory.

In another game, Agarpara Mahajati Vidyapith, Kolkata, dismantled Vivek High School (Chandigarh) 9-1. Debdoot Ghosh, Singrai Soren, Ajay Roy and Mithun Oraon scored a brace each. Dipla Shah scored a solitary goal to take the tally to 9. Ritwik was the only scorer for Vivek High School.
