Squash included as team event in 2010 Asian Games

Chennai, Sep 10 (UNI) For the first time, team event in Squash has been included in the Asian Games to be held at Guangzhou in China in 2010.

This was made possible by the efforts taken by Asian Squash Federation (ASF) President N Ramachandran, who held several discussions with the Olympic Council of Asia and two official visits to Kuwait by Ramachandran himself and by Squash Rackets Federation of India President B K R Rao.

This was revealed by a 12-member delegation from Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee-2010, which visited the ASF Secretariat and the ICL Squash Academy here.

The delegation, led by Deputy Director Venues and Overlays Department Liang Yong, was received by Ramachandran.

This is the frist time a delegation from the organising committee of the 2010 Asian Games visited the ASF secretariat, which had assured total cooperation and support for the successful conduct of the squash events in the 2010 edition of the Games.

During their visit, the delegation was briefed about the activities of the ASF and also the systematic organisational aspects of the Asian Games.

The delegation also visited the ICL Squash Academy, ASF Secretary General Srivatsan Subramaniam said in a release.
