Sports school gets British Council award

Sonepat, Jul 10 (UNI) The Motilal Nehru School of Sports at Rai has got the distinction of being accredited with the British Council's International School Award (ISA) 2007-08.

While stating this here today, the Principal of the School, Mr V K Verma said that the prestigious award was given only to those schools which have fulfilled a set of very demanding criteria laid down by the British Council.

The award was given on the basis of the institutes high standard of education, world class facilities in academics and sports and awareness of global issues like environmental concerns, world heritage and cross-cultural understanding through exchange programmes. The award had been won only by a very few schools in the past, he added.

Mr Verma said that the award would formally be given to the school at a ceremony being planned to be organised in Chennai in August or September.
