Sports philatelist Umesh Shenoy passes away
Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Sports philatelist Umesh Shenoy passed away on July 16 following a massive heart attack. He was 63.
Shenoy, who had started collecting postal stamps at a very young age, shifted his track in 1988 and focussed on Olympic stamps and went on to display his collection at the Olympics at Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004). He had also written two books on Olympic stamps and also displayed these under the special category. He had received special prizes for his collections and books.
He leaves behind his wife, a son and daughter. A condolence meeting will be held on July 22 at Amarhind Madal, Dadar.
