Sports is not glamour, it is sheer hard work: Hamid

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Praising 'Golden Boy' Abhinav Bindra's brilliant show in the Beijing Olympics, Vice-President Mohd Hamid Ansari has said sport is not glamour, it is sheer hard work.

He said this after meeting Bindra, the first ever individual Gold Medal winner for India at the Olympic Games who called on the Vice-President here today.

The Vice-President congratulated Bindra, saying he is extremely proud of the achievement of Bindra at Beijing and hoped that in future Indian players would win more medals in Olympics.

He said the grand success of Bindra proves that if the three important things that are family support, state support and zeal to achieve for the country combine together lead to sure success.

However, winning mere one gold medal does not reflect the expectation of a vast population like us, Mr Hamid added.

The Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs MS Gill and the parents of Abhinav, Mr and Mrs AS Bindra were also present.
