Sports festival woos women in Udhampur

Jammu, Nov 4 (UNI) The Women Sports Festival organised by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council encouraged maximum of females to take part in rural sports events held in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district.

Over hundred female participants including girl students from different institutions of the tehsil enthusiastically participated in the events including kho-kho, kabaddi and athletics.

''The events are being organised to promote cultural and traditional sports not among men but also among women so that they also participate in such events besides their routine jobs,'' B N Bhat, District Officer, who was the chief guest during a day long event, told UNI.

Mr. Bhat, also distributed prizes among the winners and runner up teams in various events and lauded the role of Physical Education Teachers (PETs) and coaches for encouraging girls to compete with their counterparts.
