Southern Command to host "run for fun" on Apr 1 in Pune
Pune, Mar 28 (UNI) The Southern Command, the biggest of the five commands of the Army, will host a ''run for fun'' here on April 1.
The purpose of the run is to create awareness among the people before the start of the fourth Military World Games, to be held in Hyderabad, from October 14 to 21.
The six kilometre run will be flagged off by GOC-in-C Southern Command Lieutenant General Aditya Singh on April 1 from Pune race course, according to a official release here today..
The run, after going through the main thoroghfares of the city including the M G Road, will end at the Pune Sub Area grounds.
The Southern Command authorities have appealed to the sports loving people of the city to make it a memorable event by their enthusiastic participation.
No registration is required as the civilians -- men, women, children and senior citizens -- as well as the armed forces personnel should reach the venue on the given date at 0630 hrs, the release added.
