Solaris Global Green Open in Bangalore from Feb 22 to 25
Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) Indian Tour Order of Merit winners Mukesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar are among the 120 leading professional golfers who will be seen in action in the Rs 60 lakh Solaris Global Green Open, to be played at Bangalore Golf Club from February 22 to 25.
The 72-hole stroke play tournament would see the largest field ever to play a domestic event as 120 leading professionals from the the Japanese, Asian and Indian tour compete for the winner's cheque of Rs 9,72,000.
SSP Chowrasia, in excellent form and looking for his first victory of the year, would head the field at the richest tournament in South India.
Chowrasia, playing in Bangalore after a gap of about ten years, told newspersons here today that ''I have been playing well, but have not been able to consolidate my performance to card a top-three finish. However, I have matured playing the Asian Tour and I look forward to using this experience to card a good finish at the Solaris Global Green Open in Bangalore.'' The top golfers participating in the PGTI's fifth leg of the 2006-07 calendar included 2003 Volkswagen Masters Winner Rahil Gangjee, 2002 Hero Honda Masters Champion Harmeet Kahlon, Indian Tour Order of Merit winner and 2002 Indian Open Champion Vijay Kumar, Digvijay Singh, Gurbaaz Mann, Uttam Singh Mundy, Ashok Kumar, Rafick Ali, Amritinder Singh, Rahul Ganapathy, Amardip Malik, local professionals S Madaiah and C Muniyappa.
