Smooth sailing for seeded players in 2nd round of Delhi chess meet

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Dhara Gupta's upset voctory over higher rated Karun Duggal was the only highlight of the day as most of the seeded players had easy victories in the round two of the Delhi State Open seniors chess championship here today.

Playing on the fifth board, Gupta cashed in on the careless middle game play by her opponent who employed Kings Indian attack to score a scintillating victory with a better knights and pawns ending.

On the first board, Rahul Sangma pounced on his opponent Rishi Thariani's mistake and forced him to resign after 33rd move.

Meanwhile, Prasenjit Dutta got a walkover point against Akram Baig on the second board while in the third board game, Hemant Sharma got away with full points against Vaibhav Khanna after a tough fight.
