Sikdar stamps her authority in sports meet for MPs

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Bangkok Asian Games gold medallist Jyotirmoy Sikdar (Lok Sabha) clean-swept top spots in three catergories in the women's section of a special sports meet for Parliamentarians held at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here today.

Members from both the Houses took part in the event organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, according to Press Information Bureau release here.

In the men's section, Mr Sandip Dikshit (LS) won the 50 metre race while Mr MM Pallam Raju (LS) was placed second and Mr Ram Swaroop Koli (LS) bagged the third position.

In both the 75 metre and 100 metre races, Mr Pallam Raju got the first place while Mr Dikshit and Mr Koli bagged the second and third positions respectively.

The pair of Ms Sikdar and Ms Ranjit Ranjan (LS) won the three-legged race followed by the duo of Mr Koli and Mr G Nizamudin (RS).

The Musical chairs contest was won by Mr Nizamudin with Ms Anusuya Uikay and Ms Sikdar in the second and third place.

The team of Parliamentarians defeated media persons in the interesting contests of Kabaddi and Tug-of-war.

Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs and Chemicals and Fertilisers B K Handique gave the trophies to the winners.
