Sharath thrashes Saha to enter finals, Poulomi gets walkover

New Delhi, Feb 11 (UNI) Indian number one Achanta Sharath Kamal stormed into the finals of the Indian Open men's singles event beating compatriot Subhajit Saha in straight games here today.

The fifth seeded Sharath Kamal, who has been on a giant killing spree in the tournament, thrashed Saha 11-6, 16-14, 11-8, 11-6 to book a place in the finals against world number 28 Gao Ning of Singapore.

In the women's singles event Poulomi Ghatak set up a tough summit clash against top seed Bei Bei Sun of Singapore after getting a walkover against another Singaporian Meng Yu Yu.

Sun beat compatriot Ming Lu Ma 13-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-7.

It is the second time in her career that Sun has reached the final of a Women's Singles event on the ITTF Pro Tour.

However, neither Sharath Kamal nor Poulomi found success in the doubles competition as both of them crashed out at the last eiht level.

Sharath Kamal and his partner Soumyadeep Roy lost to the Singaporean duo of Ning Gao and Zi Yang 11-9, 12-10, 11-4, 11-6 in the semifinals of the men's doubles event.

In the women's doubles, Madhurika Patkar and Vishakha Bijoy upset Mouma Das and Poulumi 11-4, 11-13, 11-6, 11-3, 11-8 to enter the finals.
