Seven member committee meeting on June 4 to decide team coach issue
Ahmedabad, May 21 (UNI) The BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah today said he had a ''breif meeting'' with Dav Whatmore in Bangladesh regarding the selection of Indian coach and said some more names were also likely to be discussed in the next meeting for the new cricket coach.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Mr Shah said that he would give his feedback about Dav Whatmore to the seven-member committee appointed to find a new coach for the Indian team, which will be meeting on June four.
Mr Shah said he held a brief meeting with Whatmore in Bangladesh during which he expressed his desire to coach the Indian cricket team and added that this lucrative position would be an ''open door'' for any Indian Coach.
However, when asked about any other probable candidates, Mr Shah refused to gave any names and said that things would be clearer after the next meeting.
He said the seven-member committee, which includes former captains Ravi Shastri, S Venkataraghavan and Sunil Gavaskar, would meet in Bangalore on June 4 and the new coach would be named by June 12.
BCCI President Sharad Pawar, Secretary Niranjan Shah, Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty and Vice President Rajeev Shukla were in Bangladesh on Saturday on an invitation from the host board (Bangladesh).
