National Judo Championship from Friday

Kochi, Feb 13: As many as 700 contestants will participate in the 28th Senior National Judo Championship, beginning here from February 15.

Talking to newspersons here last evening, Kerala Judo Association president A Sreekumar said the competition would be held under eight weight categories for men's and women's section each. The Championship was organised by Kerala Judo Association under the auspices of Judo Federation of India at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. He said 37 teams, including Services, ITBP, BSF, Police Sports Control, Indian Railway and CISF, would vie for honours in the three-day competition.

Kerala State Fisheries Minister S Sarma would inaugurate the championship.
