Scotland escapes to 204 for 9 in 46 overs after shaky start

Glasgow, Aug 16 (UNI) Indian bowlers allowed Scotland to escape after a shaky start and post a respectable 204 for nine in 46 overs in the rain affected one-dayer here today.

Scotland were 68 for four after 20 overs but Gavin Hamilton (44) and Neil McCallum (41) rescued their side with a fifth wicket stand of 82. Former skipper Craig Wright also chipped in with a quickfire 37 off 33 balls towards close to see his side went past the 200 mark.

Scotland only faced 46 overs because of two rain interruptions and India will have to face a revised target.

For India, Ajit Agarkar, R P Singh, Munaf Patel Piyush Chawla took two wickets apiece while Romesh Powar returned wicketless.

Team India is using this match as a warm-up for the one-day series against England which starts on August 21 while Scotland are preparing for the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa next month.

Earlier, India captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and decided to field under damp conditions.
