Saurav Ghosal takes pride of place in PSA Chennai Open
Chennai, June 12 (UNI) India's Saurav Ghosal, with the highest ranking of 43, will take the pride of place besides leading a large Indian field in the 6000 dollar fifth ICL Chennai Open, a Profession Squash Association (PSA) event to be held here from June 13 to 16.
According to a press release from Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI), players from Hong Kong, Japan, Egypt and England will be vying for honours in this prestigious competition. Saurav will be pitted against Wai Hang Wong of Hong Kong, ranked 92 and Dick Lau also from that country and ranked 117.
The young Indian challenge will also include rising talents like Gaurav Nandrajog, Naresh Kumar, Parth Sharma, A Parthiban and Harinderpal Sandhu.
SRFI Secretary General N Ramachandran said, ''we aim to make this event competitive this year also. We want to encourage every player through such championships for better prospects of the game globally.'' India will be looking to win the title again as it was Ritwik Bhattacharya who had won the title in the last ICL Chennai Open.
Following are the ranked players in fray: Saurav Ghosal(Ind), Wai Hang Wong(HKG), Dick Lau(HKG), Neil Hitchens(Eng), Md, El Shorbagy(j) (Egypt), Yasunori Ishwata(Jpn), Gaurav Nandrajog, Naresh Kumar, Harinderpal Sandhu, Parthiban Ayappan(all India).
