Sarfraz offers help to trace five bookies in woolmer murder
London, Apr 6 (UNI) Former Pakistan paceman Sarfraz Nawaz has offered his help in tracing the five Pakistani bookies, who according to him were present in Jamaica when coach Bob Woolmer was murdered.
Sarfraz had repeatedly insisted that the late coach's murder in the team hotel in Kingston on March 18 just after the side's humiliating defeat to the minnows Ireland, was related to match-fixing.
''I know that five bookies made their way to the West Indies during the World Cup. I can help the police to trace them.
Perhaps we can even get some clues from the players,'' Sarfraz was quoted by 'The Sun' as saying.
''I believe that Pakistan's World Cup games were fixed. The game got on top of its dark side for a while, but it has never really been stamped out,'' Sarfraz said.
Further, describing the working method of the murky system of match fixing, the 59-year-old former pacer said, ''They operate through hotels, restaurants, bars and so on. They have agents to take bet on a match from you.'' '' As the money starts from a few hundred to millions, so they can be very violent and best example of their violent nature is Woolmer's murder,'' he added.
