Sardesai hospitalised for chest infection; condition stable

Mumbai, Jun 23 (UNI) Former middle-order batsman Dilip Sardesai has been admitted to Bombay Hospital for chest infection, hospital spokesperson Dr Ashish Tiwari said today.

Dr Tiwari said the former India stalwart 'is responding to treatment and recovering from his illness. Sardesai had been admitted in a serious condition but has made good progress and is stable now, though he is still in ICU for observation'.

According to sources close to 66-year-old Sardesai, he was admitted to the hospital earlier this week.

Sardesai, who turns 67 on August 8, played 30 Tests between 1961 and 1973, amassing just over 2,000 runs with five centuries to boot, including an innings of 212, at an average of just under 40.
