Sao Paulo to play against Md Sporting on Jan 31
Jamshedpur, Jan 23 (UNI) The steel city is gearing up to host the exhibition football match to be played between Brazil's premier club Sao Paulo and Kolkata giant Mohammedan Sporting at the JRD Tata Sports Complex here on January 31.
The second match of the five-match ''Super Soccer-2007'' series, jointly organised by Indian Football Association (IFA)and the Tata Steel,will be inaugurated by Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda.
Tata Steel sports chief Satish Pillai said Sao Paulo and Md sporting would arrive here on January 28 and 29 respectively.
He said the Brazilian team would play the inaugural match against another Kolkata big club East Bengal at Siliguri on January 27, while the third match would be played versus country's oldest club Mohan Bagan at Kolkata on February four.
Mr Pillai said Sao Paulo would play next two matches against Kerala Eleven and JCT Phagwara on February 7 and 11 in Kerala and Delhi respectively.
Chief of Tata Steel's Corporate Communications Sanjay Chowdhary said this would be sixth edition of Super Soccer and the series was being held after a gap of 13 years. Earlier, Sao Paulo played Super Soccer twice in India and this team would be best among the three teams, he claimed.
Mr Chowdhary said 4000 complimentary tickets would be distributed among the school children by the organisers while prominent sports persons would also receive complimentary tickets.
P K Bose, P Bhaskar, Naveen J Sundi and Omprakash Thakur will be the referees and Ejaz Hussain and B N G Neogi will be match commissioner and match inspector respectively.
