Sangakkara, Dilshan take Lanka to fighting 257

Rajkot, Feb 11: A superb century by Kumara Sangakkara and his 108-run fifth wicket partnership with Tilkratne Dilshan helped Sri Lanka post a fighting total of 257 for eight wickets against India in the second one-dayer at the Madhavrao Scindia cricket stadium here today.

The Indian pace duo of Munaf Patel and S Sreesanth exploited the morning moistness in the wicket to reduce the Lankans to 58 for four before Sangakkara and Dilshan rescued their team with a 108-run partnership in 141 balls. Sangakkara smashed 110 runs while T Dilshan made 56 to give the Lankan bowlers a decent total to bowl at.

For India, S Sreesanth returned to form, taking two for 39 in his ten overs, while Munaf Patel was the most successful bowler taking four for 49 in nine overs. Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh also took one wicket each.

Earlier, India and Sri Lanka both made a change each from the one that played the first one-dayer with Anil Kumble replacing Zaheer Khan for the hosts, while the visitors brought in Nuwan Kulashekara in place of Nuwan Zoysa.

India had won the toss and gave the chance of first strike to Lanka.
