Sandeep, Dipika to spearhead Indian challenge in Hong Kong

Chennai, Jan 30 (UNI) Sandeep Jangra and Dipika Pallikal will spearhead the Indian challenge in the 13th Asian junior squash chamionships to be held in Hong Kong from February 3 to 10, the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) announed here today.

The Indian squad, which is hoping to put up another good performance by its players buoyed by the good showing by Saurav Ghosal in the Doha Asian Games in December last year, will also comprise of Harinderpal Singh, Parth Sharma and Naresh Kumar. The boys will participate in both individual and team events, an SRFI press release said.

The girls team partcipating in the Under-19 category also includes Anwesha Reddy. Dipika is being fielded following her Gold winning effort in the Under-15 Asian Junior individual championship in Singapore in 2005. The duo will, however, participate only in the individual event in the Asian championship.

Pakistan, Malaysia, India, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Macau will participate in the boys section.

In the girls section Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka and Philippines would be vying for honours.

The Indian teams: Boys: Sandeep Jangra, Harinderpal Singh, Parth Sharma, Naresh Kumar.

Girls: Dipila Pallikal, Anwesha Reddy.
