Sanaa upsets second seed Segini

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) Fifth seed left handed Sanaa Bhambri caused a major upset by shocking second seed Vivian Segnini of Brazil in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the women's singles quarter-final of the 10,000 dollars Bhavana Swarop ITF Women's Circuit in Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) today.

In an all India affair, fourth seed Rushmi Chakravarthi ended the winning streak of unseeded P Venkethesha 6-1, 7-6 (3) while sixth seed Emili Webley Smith of Great Britain upset third seed Leonie Mekel of Netherland 6-4,7-5.

Top seed Niole Thyssen of Neatherland proved too good for Indian Parul Goswami whom she outplayed in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Indian pair of Sanaa Bhambari partnering Rushmi Chakravarthi ousted Indian duo of Geeta Manohar and Archana Venkatraman in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the doubles semi-final encounter.

The Sanaa-Rushmi pair set up a title clash with Treta Bhattacharyya and Shalini Sahoo who snuffed out the tough resistance of Vivian Segnini of Brazil and Emily Webley Smith of Great Britain 6-4, 5-7, 10-6.
